MOBILITY OF YOUNG PEOPLE at Kaunas, Lithuania

SOCIAL CROWDFUNDING FOR NEW ENTREPRENEURS

The UIET Association partnered in a transformative initiative to tackle youth unemployment in Europe by promoting entrepreneurship through social crowdfunding. Targeting young people in high-unemployment countries, the project aimed to equip them with the skills and knowledge to develop, fund, and present their business ideas to investors, utilizing European crowdfunding platforms. Activities included educational visits, workshops, and digital skill development to enhance participants’ entrepreneurial, mathematical, and digital competencies.

This project addressed significant barriers faced by young Europeans in the job market, such as a lack of practical skills and access to startup capital. By fostering a diverse group of young entrepreneurs, the initiative aimed to create new employment opportunities, contribute to economic resilience, and promote a culture of innovation. Aligned with European Youth Goals, the project emphasized inclusion, gender equality, and quality employment, aiming to reduce youth unemployment and strengthen European identity and cooperation.

As a key partner, the UIET Association from Romania actively participated by sending young participants to mobility activities, empowering them with valuable experiences and insights. Through this involvement, the UIET Association contributed to the broader goal of fostering entrepreneurship, reducing youth unemployment, and building a more inclusive and resilient European economy.

Participants testimonials

Péter Anita:

“The first Erasmus+ project of my life and my first flight. Combining the two was the perfect combination. I loved every minute of it from arrival to departure. There were difficulties, as with everything, but we were lucky to overcome them. I think the theme of this project is a very important one, as I am constantly noticing the problem of unemployment in our country.

I had a great time even though I think I spoke the least English of all of them. I am not proud of that, but I am proud that I tried. I mean, since then I have become much more comfortable speaking English and remembering words more easily.

If there is another project that suits me, I will go, as it is an unmissable experience that everyone should have.”

Kiss Jemina:

“Participating in the Erasmus program on social crowdfunding in Lithuania was transformative. Based in Kaunas, I experienced the city’s rich history and vibrant culture while bonding with a diverse group from across Europe.

Engaging with local social entrepreneurs was inspiring. Their successful crowdfunding campaigns, such as for youth centers and environmental projects, highlighted the importance of community engagement and storytelling. This experience broadened my understanding of crowdfunding and showcased Lithuania’s innovative approach to social change.”

Péter Zsanett:

“From March 17th to 23rd, 2024, I took part in an awesome Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Kaunas, Lithuania. The project aimed to tackle youth unemployment in Europe by boosting young entrepreneurs through social crowdfunding. Our diverse group included people from Turkey, Lithuania, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and Romania, with 30 energetic participants in total.

Throughout the week, we joined in workshops, educational visits, and digital skill sessions that boosted our understanding of entrepreneurship, financial strategies, and digital skills. The exchange promoted a strong sense of European identity, inclusion, and gender equality in business.

Overall, the project was life-changing, giving us practical skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and lasting international friendships. The follow-up phase helped us share our new knowledge and inspire others to pursue entrepreneurial dreams in their communities.”

Kiss Noémi:

“I spent an interesting week in mid-March in Kaunas, Lithuania as part of an Erasmus+ youth exchange program. The aim of the project was to assist young entrepreneurs in combating youth unemployment in Europe through social crowdfunding. There were 30 participants from various countries including Turkey, Lithuania, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and Romania.

Throughout the week, we participated in workshops, study trips, and digital skills development sessions. These activities provided deeper insights into entrepreneurship, financial strategies, and digital technologies. European identity, inclusivity, and gender equality played important roles in the program.

We stayed at Domus Pacis apartments in Kaunas Old Town, which allowed us to learn about each other’s cultures and explore the city’s landmarks such as Kaunas Castle and Laisvės Alėja pedestrian street.

The program equipped us with practical skills and an entrepreneurial mindset, while also fostering international relationships. During the follow-up phase, we had the opportunity to share what we learned and encourage others to pursue their entrepreneurial goals in their own communities.”
